Consent records and statistics

Understand differences between consent statistics and analytics

Consent activity and website analytics measure different things.

1. Compare the same scope

Select the same website and time period in both tools. Check the reporting timezone and any filters before comparing totals.

2. Check what each number counts

A consent choice is not automatically a unique person, page view or analytics session. Read the labels in each report and compare like-for-like measures.

3. Consider the visitor's choice

Rejection, browser restrictions, blocked analytics and repeated visits can affect the relationship between the reports. Google Consent Mode settings can also change how Google measurement behaves.

4. Investigate a specific example

If a difference seems unusual, check a controlled test with your analytics specialist. Record the consent choice and whether the expected tags ran. Avoid changing consent settings only to make two totals match.
