Passiro vs. Osano
Compare a focused cookie consent setup with Osano’s broader privacy offering.
Hold both to the same requirements: the pages you need to scan, the consent records you need to keep, the features you need now and the annual total of the plan you would actually choose.
Passiro and Osano, side by side
The Passiro column shows Passiro’s current plans. The Osano column summarises Osano’s public pricing pages, documentation and changelogs, with the plan each feature needs; features were not tested in paid accounts.
| Feature | Passiro | Osano |
|---|---|---|
| Plans & billing | ||
| Free offer | Free has no expiry | Free: $0 for 1 domain, 1 user and 5,000 monthly visitors. A free plan, not just a trial. |
| Annual price per domain (EUR) |
|
Not publicly confirmed: no verified EUR list price. |
| Annual price per domain (USD) |
|
Plus: $199/month for a bundle of up to 3 domains, 2 users and 30,000 monthly visitors; 12 × monthly is $2,388 (about $796 per domain only with all 3 in use). Basic Privacy: custom quote. |
| Consent management | ||
| Visitors and consent records | Unlimited on every plan | Visitor limits by plan, counted as osano.js deliveries cached 24 hours per device (not pageviews or unique users); overage uses a rolling 3-month average. No separate consent-record limit is documented. |
| Automatic script and cookie blocking | Every plan, including Free | Yes, after classification and correct setup; Listener mode detects but does not block or show a banner. Iframe blocking is described as a Premier feature. |
| Geo-targeting | Every plan, including Free | Yes, regional banner variants selected by IP. Language and variant overrides exist but may affect guarantee terms. |
| IAB GPP | Pro and above | Documented as Premier only, with some GPP sections listed as unsupported. Placement on today’s plans (Basic Privacy) is not publicly confirmed. |
| IAB TCF (documented version) | Pro and aboveTCF v2.3 | TCF available; current version and plan to be confirmed. Osano’s sources refer to 2.x or older versions. |
| Scanning & monitoring | ||
| Automatic scan frequency |
|
Ongoing detection through osano.js, which is not a crawl. URL and sitemap scanning is described as monthly on Premier. |
| Pages per scan (up to) |
|
Up to 500 URLs per sitemap in URL and sitemap scanning (nested sitemaps unsupported). Not a confirmed scan cap for every plan. |
| On-demand scans per month |
|
Not publicly specified: no verified monthly allowance. |
| Analytics & consent records | ||
| Consent analytics | Every plan, including Free | Yes, a dashboard with consent, category and geographic reports. Its CSV exports hold aggregate statistics, not necessarily individual consent evidence. |
| Consent history (up to) |
|
Indefinite under published retention policy: consent records and dashboard metrics have no fixed end date. Not confirmed to apply after cancellation. |
| Consent logs available for export |
|
Consent Search on Plus and Premier looks up a record by its browser-based consent ID. Raw-log export window and bulk export: not publicly confirmed. |
| Branding & languages | ||
| Visual banner editor | Every plan, including Free | Banner styling available: Banner Styles settings and colours. Release notes describe the new Modern banner design. |
| Your own logo | Pro and above | Not publicly confirmed for Cookie Consent plans. A logo in Osano TrustHub belongs to a different product. |
| 25 banner languages | Every plan, including Free | Multilingual banners with automatic language selection. Exact language count and plan access: not publicly confirmed. |
| Team & access | ||
| Team members | Unlimited on every plan | Free 1 user, Plus 2 users; Basic Privacy advertises unlimited users. |
| Roles & granular permissions | Every plan, including Free | Role-based access: Admin, Manager and Viewer. Granular permissions and plan restrictions are not fully verified. |
| Integrations & API | ||
| Google Consent Mode v2 | Every plan, including Free | Yes, explicitly documented for Osano. Implementation and verification are still required. |
| Google Tag Manager | Coming soon | Yes, a community template. Osano recommends direct installation in the page head first; GTM installs have limits when scripts load outside GTM. |
| API access to consent records and cookie data | Business and above | A frontend API exists. API access to consent records and cookie data, and its plan, is not publicly confirmed. |
| WordPress integration | Coming soon | Yes, documented installation of osano.js in the page header. A dedicated Osano WordPress plugin is not confirmed. |
| Shopify integration | Coming soon | Yes, theme installation plus Shopify’s Customer Privacy API; checkout needs a separate app. Without the API connection, Osano cannot control Shopify-managed cookies and pixels. |

Prices are the providers’ own, for a new customer, in the currency shown: nothing is converted, and VAT may apply. Terms can change after the date checked. “Not publicly confirmed” marks a gap in the public documentation, not a missing feature.

A useful comparison starts with the same requirements
Start with your website, not a provider’s headline. Note the number of domains you manage, the number of pages you need to scan, how often you want scans and how long you need to keep and export consent records. Then compare the same requirements across providers.
A temporary trial, a permanent Free plan and a paid subscription are different offers. So are visitor allowances, page-scan limits and export windows. Check each separately before deciding whether one price is better value.

What to check with Osano
- Domains and users: Free covers 1 domain and 1 user, while Plus is a bundle of up to 3 domains and 2 users.
- Traffic: Osano counts deliveries of osano.js, cached 24 hours per device, so its visitor limits are not pageviews or monthly unique users.
- Scanning: ongoing detection through osano.js is not the same as crawling your URLs or sitemap.
- Scope: check whether you also need legal templates, representative services or other privacy services. Passiro does not automatically replace the entire bundle.
What Passiro puts on the table
Passiro Free includes a cookie banner, visual editor, Google Consent Mode v2, automatic script blocking, monthly scans of up to 500 pages, consent analytics and unlimited visitors. It has no expiry date and requires no credit card.
Pro adds own branding, removes Passiro branding, increases scans to 750 pages weekly, includes two on-demand scans per month and adds IAB TCF/GPP. Business raises scanning capacity to 5,000 pages, provides eight on-demand scans per month and adds API access. The full Pricing table shows history, exports and upcoming features.
See the full plan comparisonThinking about switching?
-
Map the existing CMP and all dependencies.
-
Save necessary logs and configurations. No automatic import of historical consent records into Passiro is documented.
-
Test the replacement in staging and during a controlled production switch.
-
Remove old scripts and confirm cancellation after verifying the new setup.
Switching from Osano
- Save the consent evidence and configurations you need before you cancel.
- Map classifications, regional behaviour and Shopify or GTM dependencies.
- Test Passiro in staging, and avoid two active banners or blocking engines in production at the same time.
- Osano’s Listener mode is an option for migrating to Osano, not a Passiro feature.
A switch is an opportunity to understand the whole consent setup, not simply replace a logo. Check accept, reject, preference changes and relevant tag behaviour on the actual website.
Comparison questions
Does Osano have a free plan?
Yes, within its limits: Osano Free costs $0 for 1 domain, 1 user and 5,000 monthly visitors.
Is Osano priced per domain?
Not on Plus. Plus is a bundle: $199/month for up to 3 domains, 2 users and 30,000 monthly visitors, so compare that total minimum payment rather than a share per domain.
Does Osano retain consent records?
Yes. Its public retention policy keeps consent records and dashboard metrics without a fixed end date. It is not confirmed that this applies after cancellation.
Is Osano missing GPP or TCF?
No. Osano documents support for both; the TCF version and the placement on current plans still need clarification.
Is a free trial the same as a free plan?
No. A trial has a limited duration or a defined end. Passiro Free has no expiry date and does not automatically become a paid subscription.
Can I compare visitor limits with page-scan limits?
They measure different things. Visitor limits concern traffic. Scan limits concern how many pages the scanner checks. Passiro has unlimited visitors on all plans, with separate scanning allowances.
Does Passiro publish verified competitor savings?
No universal saving is claimed here. A saving depends on the actual previous subscription, the selected Passiro plan and comparable requirements.
